1. Local In-Memory Audio & Microphone Processing

When you use the Tuner Guru chromatic and string tuner on Web, iOS, or Android, microphone audio is analyzed 100% locally in volatile device memory using our time-domain YIN pitch detection algorithm. Tuner Guru never records, stores, or uploads raw instrument audio to any remote server.

2. Optional Pip Voice Commands

Tuner Guru works completely via direct buttons and typed commands without activating speech recognition. If you choose to tap Speak to Pip, Tuner Guru displays a point-of-use consent notice explaining whether your browser or mobile operating system processes speech recognition on-device or via your OS/browser vendor.

3. 4+ / Everyone Family-Safe Advertising (AdSense & AdMob)

Because music students of all ages (including elementary and secondary school orchestra, band, and guitar students) use Tuner Guru, our free tier enforces strict child-safe advertising rules across Google AdSense (Web) and Google AdMob (iOS & Android):

• Maximum Ad Content Rating = G (General Audiences): All mature, gambling, alcohol, dating, political, violence, and sensitive ad categories are blocked.
• Non-Personalized Contextual Ads Only (NPA=1): Ads are served strictly from musical/contextual signals without cross-app behavioral profiling or Apple IDFA tracking (NSUserTrackingUsageDescription is never requested).
• COPPA & Youth Protection Flags (TFCD=1, TFUA=1): Every ad request sets Tag for Child-Directed Treatment and Tag for Users under the Age of Consent.
• Muted Audio & Zero Practice Interruption: Ad audio is muted and full-screen interstitials are prohibited during active tuning or metronome playback.
